Ethnic Studies Then, Ethnic Studies Now: Educating for Glocal Realities

Proposals for individual papers, panels, workshops, or media productions are invited from scholars and students from all disciplines, as well as activists and community members.

Possible topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Globalization & mobilization
  • Social movements & transformation
  • Curriculum, pedagogy for peace & justice
  • Health equity & human rights
  • Sovereign rights
  • The politics of poverty
  • Immigration, migration & labor
  • Revolution & liberation
  • War, violence & creative interventions
  • Borders & barriers
  • Equality, law & public policy
  • Arts for social justice & change

Your two hundred and fifty word proposals should be submitted by December 15, 2011Extended deadline!  Submit proposals by January 15, 2012: click here for the online form.

Individual proposals will be assigned to panels of three speakers; each paper will be limited to 20 minutes.

Proposals for pre-arranged panels must include a panel chair; all panel members, including the chair, must submit their information online.

Participants are welcome to chair other panels, but may present only one paper.

NAES will provide LCD projectors; however, speakers must provide their own laptops.

Acceptance notifications will be announced by January 31, 2012.

All program participants must pay full conference registration and 2012 NAES membership dues.

A limited number of travel scholarships are available for students. Additionally, prizes are awarded for best graduate and undergraduate paper.
