Hotel and Travel Information
The 46th Annual Conference is hosted by the College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia!
Due to the location of the host institution in the Virginia Capitol Region, NAES has elected not to have a conference hotel.
Thus, there are no group rates available. We have chosen this action as the cost of hotels, even in the Richmond Area, are seemingly cheaper on various websites and via other services.
However, as many will likely be staying near the campus, we do recommend, hotels to be booked in that region as it is close to public transportation to and from Virginia Commonwealth University:
Richmond is accessible by train via Amtrak with two train stations. Station Codes: RVM and RVR.
Richmond is accessible via bus (Megabus, Greyhound, and the China NYC bus) – each goes up and down much of the eastern coast of the US.
Richmond’s airport (10 mins from downtown) is Richmond International Airport: Airport Code: RIC. RIC has direct flights to and from Washington D.C., New York City, Charlotte, Boston, Detroit, Chicago, Tampa/St. Petersburg, Jacksonville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, among other cities. RIC is serviced by three airlines that may not appear on general travel sites: OneJet, Southwest, and, Allegiant Air
Upon arrival, RIC has Uber/Lyft, taxis and private car services available at the airport 24/7.
Other nearby airports within 1-1.5 hour drive, include Norfolk, VA and Washington, DC
The closest hotels to campus happen to be the best in the city:
Hotel Graduate (brand new!)* closest to campus
Jefferson Hotel (historic, with amazing Sunday brunch)
Hotel Quirk (cool rooftop bar!)
Hotel Linden Row (across from the public library)
Each is within a 5-10 minute walk to campus.
